Biscuit Cutters

Some idea's for shapes for the biscuit cutters..

Doing research into biscuit cutters I found that it's quite simple to make your own cutters. Copper, aluminum and metal ribbon can be used as long as it hasn't had any chemical treatment it is fine to use with food.

At the cookery store in the byram arcade biscuit cutters were sold for £1.20 each or £4.99 for a set

Mamma Roots - A fab designer who's produced an sweet range of wooden woodland creatures being sold on etsy.com. Thought they were cute and fun.

There were also a few craft-type products too similar to what we thought of producing with our own designs featured on them (e.g. sketchbooks).

Product Options

Printing techniques

For printing onto 3D objects such as the ornaments, there are 3 printing techniques which I think would work best:

-Giclee – inkjet based digital print (can use ink, acrylic, or oil paint)
-Screen printing - a mesh stencil technique
-Stenciling



Laser cutting would probaby be best for cutting into the materials, as it is precise and accurate.


Material options:
wood - Enhances the nature vibes

metal - Metal wire can easily be shaped. Sheet metal is reminiscent of some of the scultpures

plastic - Can be cut into, melted, and shaped. Can have a wide variety of colours

ceramics - Gives a homely feel.

Product Ideas

We started off with an extensive list of product options, and have narrowed them down to the favourite and most relevent.

- Sketch book
- Limited edition prints
- Bakery set (incl. tin)
- Gardening kit
- Cards
- Jewellry Tree
- Gift Wrap set
- Ornaments (eg. wooden creatures whcih can interlock with one another, to create a family)

The products could either promote sharing, or the idea of nostalgia (referring to helping the children)

Audience Re-think

After heavy discussion, we have decided to slightly ammend our target market. It is now:
30-50 year old couples, who want to help out under privaleged children.

This market promotes philanthrapy, and charity. But the scheme is still a mutual relationship. By buying the products, the friends will be getting limited edition products, and some of the money will be given to helping under privaleged children appreciate the park. This could be payment for transportation, or events to encourage creativity etc..

The products could reflect this theme, by focusing on the idea of 'sharing'.



The children who would benifit from this scheme would be primarily under privileged. This could include kids in care, from low income families, from youth centres, or with disabilities.

The events would be fun and interesting (and a treat, getting away from the classroom), but would also be educational and enriching. These could include workshops on growing your own food, the life cycle of plants, or healthy cooking. The ages would be 7-11 primary school children.
